Punctuation Personalities

The graphic by Carrie J Keplinger asks which punctuation mark matches your personality. I guess I am mostly a semi-colon, with a dash of dash! :-)

And here's another take on the same idea that I found at Twitter; click image for larger view:

Apostrophe Humor

You can never have too much apostrophe humor...! :-)

She texted me, "Your adorable."

I replied, "No. YOU'RE adorable."

Puncutation Saves (Love) Lives

And like "Let's eat Grandma" shows how punctuation saves lives, this bit of humor from Grammarly shows how punctuation can save love lives too!

I'm sorry I love you = I'm sorry (that) I love you.

NOT GOOD!

You need some punctuation — a semicolon is good:

I'm sorry; I love you.

And a period can also do the same job:

I'm sorry. I love you.

Keep those independent clauses separated!

Resource: Interview with a Semicolon

I find this interview completely enchanting. It's very creative, and it's also about one of my own very favorite marks of punctuation: the semicolon: Interview with a Semicolon. This screenshot is just a sample of the sad semicolon's remarks:

For more amusement, here is the amazing Oatmeal: How to use a semicolon, the most feared punctuation on earth. This is just an excerpt; click the link to see the whole poster.

If you enjoyed the man eating chicken and the man-eating chicken from the Grammar Lessons video, here's another fun one: I don't want to work twenty four-hour shifts; give me twenty-four hour shifts please!

Punctuation Matters

This is like "Let's eat Grandma," but this time it's all about love. Or not.

Resource: Apostrophe Nighmare

If punctuation could dream. . . and in many ways, the apostrophe is everybody's punctuation nightmare!
