Word Mix-Up: PEDAL and PETAL
PEDAL
: A "pedal" is something that you press with your foot, like a "brake pedal" in a car. It is from the Latin word
pes
(
pedis
), meaning "foot."
PETAL
: A flower has "petals." The word is from Greek
petalon
, meaning a leaf, something thin and flat (the leaf of a plant and also a leaf of metal).
