Tamil Word in English: Teak

The English word TEAK comes to use from Portuguese teca, which you can see in Tamil tekku, Telugu teku, Kannada tegu, etc. Teak is an East Indian tree whose timber has been used to build ships, railway carriages, and houses, and it is still widely used in the making of furniture.
